British Triathlon Competition Rules

Athletes are expected to be familiar with and abide by BTF rules.

Please take note of the following rules in particular:

  • Athletes are not permitted to run the run stage bare-chested.
  • Race numbers are to be worn to the front during the run
  • No external assistance of athletes is permitted
  • Wetsuits will be compulsory for all races.

Information regarding water temperature will be relayed to athletes via email the day prior to the event, as well as being displayed at registration on the day of the race & reiterated during each race briefing.

As this event is being held as a South West Championships, rules will be enforced & penalties will be given in the event of a breach of the rules, at the discretion of the race committee.

Appeals process:

An appeal is a request for a review of a decision made by a referee/the race committee.

We hope that this procedure will not be used, but, in the event that you wish to make an appeal, the Appeals Chairman must receive it within 1 hour of the penalty being posted with a fee of £15 that is refunded if the appeal is upheld. The Appeals chairman is David Monk who will be found in Race HQ.
