Plymouth Triathlon Swim Leg Info

SWIM: 1.5 km (Subject to change)

Wetsuits are compulsory

You will enter via a slipway outside the Mountbatten Centre and exit via the slipway 200m beyond the start line (See swim map). There is a pole to mark your exit. and you MUST keep to the right of this throughout the swim to avoid a shallow rocky area. This will be signed and patrolled by a canoeist. If at any time you feel a tap on your shoulder or a ‘whistle blast’ please resight and adjust course appropriately.

The area closest to the shore is always shallower so you will see seaweed and rocks but will not hit them!

There will be a number of rescue canoes and surfers patrolling the swim. If you wish to attract the attention of one of these crafts then turn onto your back and raise one arm in the air. For this purpose BACKSTROKE IS NOT PERMITTED in the swim.

Competitors are reminded that no inland waterways in Britain are considered safe for swimming. Do not swim if you feel unwell or are recovering from a virus or infection.
